Manny Machado Hits Three Homers In The First Three Innings Yesterday
What a day for Manny Machado yesterday. He saw his friend, Alex Rodriguez, announce he was getting cut after this Friday’s game, he got his own Mannyion Manny Machado Minion Bobblehead down in Bowie, and oh yeah, he became the second player in MLB history to hit three homers in each of the first three innings of a ballgame. Not a bad day.
Machado finished the day going 3-6 with three home runs (23, 24 and 25 on the season), seven RBI, and 1,197 feet worth of dongs, but he wasn’t the only guy who had a great day. Every time Dylan Bundy starts a game, it’s must see TV for O’s fans, and yesterday was no different. After losing on Saturday, the O’s needed a good start from Bundy in order to take this series and start this long road trip off on a winning note, and that is exactly what the Birds got. Bundy went six innings, struck out nine, walked one, and only gave up two earned runs. O’s got the win 10-2, and extended their lead in the division to a game.
Even more impressive in the game was Ubaldo Jimenez coming in and not peeing down his leg like he always does. Baldo even got the rare three inning save, didn’t give up a run and now has lowered his ERA to 6.83! Everything coming up Orioles!
Chris Davis even got in on the action, hitting a mammoth shot to right center. Maybe this homer gets Davis going? He’s been terrible the last few weeks, in July he batted .153 with three homers, seven driven in. August hasn’t started out much better for him, he’s hitting .158 with a bomb, and two driven in. Need Davis to get going and stay hot.
